Once upon a time over a rozé fröccs in a little ruin pub in Budapest three friends had a big idea, and Magpie was born. Our mission is to paint a new perspective for illustration by connecting exceptional artists from Eastern Europe with writers, publishers and all those ingenious minds who’d like to see their story come to life in a unique way. MEET THE TEAM

Barbara Bakos

Barbara has been in the illustration industry for over 10+ years. After graduating at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest as an animation film director she started to work as an art director/ director for commercials, short films and animated series. She got to travel all around the world with different projects, building strong connections in the industry. She had the opportunity to work with clients such as Disney Junior, Penguin Workshop, Simon and Schuster and TED- Ed. As a full time artist her dream was always to help other artists to evolve. At Magpie she is helping our artists developing their portfolio, she is looking for new talents to be introduced to the international art world, and she is helping our clients finding the perfect artist for their project.

Eszter Tóth

Eszter’s dedication to customer service has taken her all around the world from organizing international film festivals in Europe, through help establishing the first community based film distribution company in Hungary, to delivering exclusive concierge services both in LA and NYC. For the past ten years she has gained experience leading frontline teams in event management, virtual reality and high-profile client service in luxury hospitality. She is currently living in New York city, where she is building business relationships and keeping our clients happy. She is constantly learning about the art industry and passionate about creating impactful content that entertains and inspires global audiences.
